Almost every Chinese restaurant I've been to ends the same way: as I'm leaving the door, the polite staff says to me, in the best English they can, “Welcome again". This is of course ridiculous because I haven't even left; how why are they welcoming me for coming? That's because in Chinese one would say“欢 迎您再来” which is a word-for-word translation. What they should say is “Thank you. Please come again.”

我去过的大部分中餐馆都会有相同的结语词：当我即将出门的时候，有礼貌的员工会用他们最好的英语和我说：“Welcome again(再次欢迎)”。这当然很可笑，因为我还没有离开，他们怎么能欢迎我的到来呢？这是因为在汉语里，人们会说：“欢迎您再来”，这是逐字翻译，他们应该说：“Thank you. Please come again."
